Jewellery - Clear Cut
We call this kind of images a Feature Clear Cut. This can be used on online stores as the main image for the catalog, website cover image and to feature in magazines. Normally the product is clipped/removed from the background so we can make all the images to have the clean white background. The original reflections and shadows are kept but clipped in a separate layer so we can treat it in separate from the main product and to allow the client to extract the main image from background so the background can be changed or the image can be overlapped on top of other images or text.
Jewellery - Feature Clear Cut
We call this kind of images a Flat Lay. This is usually used on online stores and even to feature in magazines. Normally the product is not clipped/removed from the background and the natural reflections and shadows are kept. Some clients request a both treatments, hold the shadows and make the PATH available so the product can be extracted from background so the background can be changed or the image can be overlapped on top of other images or text.
Jewellery – Campaign
Your typical feature/hero image that will showcase your new collection, season or represent what your product is about. This kind of image normally take a little longer than the straight lear cut image or up to hours to achieve one final image. It is very normal that we have to take 2,3 or sometimes 5+ images to create one single striking photo.
We normally clear cut the jewellery so we can make the process of editing more precise. That does not mean that an image taken on dark background will look great when placed on pure white background because the amount of contrast and dark areas reflected in the product.
